The former Romanov summer palace adjacent to a natural spring source in Borjomi, Samtskhe-Javakheti region, Georgia on July 24, 2010; the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline runs through the mountains of Bakuriani which overlook the Borjomi valley. Given that the BTC pipeline is not engineered to withstand powerful earthquakes, according to a senior negotiator involved in sealing "the deal of the century" on behalf of the Georgian government - and disputed by a BP spokesperson, a serious tremor along the Caucasus fault lines could threaten the Borjomi mineral water source and endanger the local economy which relies on Borjomi mineral water.
