Gia Obgaidze, who says he received upwards of 100,000 Georgian lari or more than approximately $55,000 in compensation money resulting from the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline traversing his once fertile farmlands, is seen in the chicken farm beside his home that he was able to start with his compensation funs in the village of Alakhi Sangori, Georgia on August 1, 2010. Obgaidze is likely the largest recipient of compensation funds in Georgia, which he used to start a chicken farm in addition to remodeling his home; according to an attorney who formerly handled compensation issues with the Young Lawyers Association, Obgaidze likely received 187,000 Georgian lari or approximately $100,000.
