A leaky, 70-year old tunnel 10 kilometers from Debre Sina, Ethiopia on September 2, 2007. The tunnel was built by Italian engineers and was previously known locally as a spot for bandits and looters only a few years ago; as a European Union-funded effort to modernize the road northeast of the capital Addis Ababa takes shape, the tunnel remains an unpaved and dark passageway where one car must pass through at a time.
